Drishti lifeguards on Wednesday rescued five tourists from Delhi after their vehicle got stuck in a river near Dudhsagar waterfalls.

The incident occurred after the five tourists, all aged in their 20s, were travelling to Dudhsagar along the rocky terrain when they decided to drive across swelling rivers.

Unaware of the prevailing situation with no proper knowledge of the roads leading to Dudhsagar, all five tourists tried to find their way to Dudhsagar with the assistance of Google Maps.

On reaching the halfway mark, they got trapped in the river which was flooded due to rain. They tried to escape but were unable to do so because of the high force of the water.

Lifesavers Niraj Gaonkar, Devendra Naik, Hanuman Bhajantriy, Vithal Masurkar and Shanu Gaunekar, who was posted at Dudhsagar,  teamed up and rescued the group.

It should be noted that forest gates at Dudhsagar are closed on the account of Monsoon.

Locals expressed anger over the developments and said if the tourist had crossed the river, it would have been fatal for their lives as it is dangerous to proceed further because forest department gates are closed.
