The Commissioner of Railway Safety Board on Friday inpected conducted the inspection of of the Karwar-Margao stretch of the Konkan Railway.

Konkan Railway officials informed that the inspection was successful and met the laid down parameters.the Karwar-Margao stretch has been electrified as part of the KR electrification project.

Senior Konkan Railway officials led by the Chairman cum Managing Director Sanjay Gupta and all Heads of Departments, KR accompanied the Commissioner of Railway Safety during the inspection.

The stretch between Margao railway station and Tivim will be inspected on Monday.

The Konkan Railway Corporation has undertaken an ambitious programme to electrify the entire route. Though the corporation had set a deadline to run electric trains on the route by December, officials said the project is likely to see the light of the day soon.

Electric trains have also been introduced on the Goyaba Harel railway track, with trains from Mangalore in Karnataka to Karwar and trains from North India reaching Ratnagiri in Maharashtra.
