Goa's International Master Ameya Awadi won the International FIDE Qualified Open Chess Tournament in Hosur-Tamil Nadu. He remained unbeaten in the tournament, earning eight and a half points from nine rounds, eight wins and one draw.

The competition was organized by Viyugam Chess Academy and Ananthi Chess Academy from December 25 to 29 at Adhiyaman Engineering College Complex, Hosur. Around 256 chess players from all over the country had taken part in the tournament.
