Parth Salvi won the first Freedom Fighter Dattaram Dhuri Smriti All Bardez Taluka Level Open Rapid Chess Tournament in Bardez, Goa.

The tournament was organised by Bardez Taluka Chess Association and Thivi Lions Club at Tulsiram Hall in Mapusa.

Parth Salvi was awarded a cash prize worth Rs 3,000 and a trophy. Mandar Lad got the runner-up spot while Yash Prabhu secured the third position.

During the final game, Parth and Mandar got the points after eight rounds. However, Parth topped in the tiebreaker to claim the victory.

Eighty players took part in the tournament, including 16 FIDE ELO rated players.

Sairudra Nagvekar, Snehal Naik, Chinmay Patil, Gian Dimelo, Artha Karapurkar, Sayuri Naik, Mahadev Sawant, Hriday Morjkar, Kunal Naik, Raghav Lad, Aryan Naik, Ved Narvekar got 4th to 15th position, respectively.

Arvind Mhamal, Avinash Malvankar and Nilesh Dhargal were the arbitrators of the contest. Mapusa Corporator Sudhir Kandolkar, Bardez Taluka Chess Association President Vishwas Pilarnakar, Vice President Shirish Divkar distributed the prizes.

Dr Sushant Dhulapkar, Treasurer Ramchandra Parab, Members Ajit Awate, Sachin Arolkar, Ravindra Dhuri, Manisha Dhuri, Suhas Dhuri, Shanti Dhuri were also present. Ashwin Kumar Karpe, Divisional President, District 317B Lion Club International inaugurated the competition.
