Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Punjab annihilates Goa by 81 runs

Punjab Opener Prabhsimran Singh scored an unbeaten century

Goa's senior men's cricket team lost to Punjab by 81 runs at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, 6 November in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament.

Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Goa had to bear the brunt of the stormy batting of 21-year-old Punjab opener Prabhsimran Singh who scored an unbeaten 119 off just 61 balls with 11 fours and six sixes.

The opening pair of Prabhsimran and Shubhaman Gill (40) opened the innings with a 118 run partnership in 13 overs. Later, Prabhasimaran shared a 65-run stand with skipper Abhishek Sharma (25) for the second wicket. Punjab finished with a target of 197 runs.

Singh plays for the Punjab Kings franchise in the IPL.

In the second innings, Punjab bowlers Siddharth Kaul (3-21), Harpreet Brar (2-12) and Mayank Markande (2-29) destroyed the Goa batting lineup.

Only two batters were able to score in double figures with Suyash Prabhudesai scoring a 30 and Shubham Ranjane scored 19 runs. The Goan team was bundled out for 119 in 19.1 overs.

This was Punjab's second win in three matches. While the Goan team suffered their second loss in three matches.
