FC Goa head coach Juan Ferrando on Thursday, November 17, said the team wants to focus on the upcoming season of Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 without worrying about past achievements and trophies.
Addressing a press conference, he said, "This is a new season, a new chapter. We're all positive heading into the new season. The focus, though, isn't in the past. We aren't thinking about being knocked out in the semis. The important thing is to put focus in the present."
The Gaurs had an above par 2020-21 season where they reached the semifinals, eventually losing to the champions Mumbai City FC. However, the team had several positives as they ended the season on a 15-game winning streak.
"This year's ISL tournament is very challenging. With all the teams emphasising on strong team building, it will be much tighter. Every team is focused on good players, so every match will be tough."coach Ferrando said.
FC Goa has a semifinal rematch as they face Mumbai City FC in their first bout of the 2021-22 ISL season. The match will be played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on 22 November.
