Tejaswini Durgad smashed a half-century against Vidarbha at Kandukuri Cricket Academy ground in Visakhapatnam in Women’s Senior One Day Trophy on Sunday.

Tejaswini Durgad's smashing half-century led Goa to a resounding victory over Vidarbha at Kandukuri Cricket Academy ground in Visakhapatnam in Women’s Senior One Day Trophy on Sunday.

Opener Shreya Parab and skipper Shikha Pandey also batted superbly to secure a seven-wicket victory in the Elite Group D match of Women’s Senior One Day Trophy.

Vidarbha won the toss and elected bat first. But this decision quickly overturned as Vidarbha lost their first two wickets in the fifth over. Then Disha Kasat and Vaishnavi Khandkar tried steading ship and stitched up a decent partnership. But the duo lasted only 10 more overs as Vaishnavi Khandkar was run out at the score of 43. Kasat continued batting as she went on to score 43 runs in 89 balls with 5 boundaries. But no other batter could support Kasat and Vidarbha folded for 153 runs.

In the second innings, Goa started strong as the openers batted steadily and put up a 38 partnership in 19 overs. Then Purvaja Verlekar was dismissed on the score of 23 runs with 4 fours. Then Tejaswini Durgad went on to hit a 74 ball half-century with seven fours. Leading the team to victory, Tejaswini shared a 47-run stand with Shreya Parab for the second wicket and then a 52-run stand with Shikha for the third wicket. Tejaswini was then dismissed when only 17 runs were required to win. Then Shikha and Sanjula Naik sealed the match as Naik hit the winning runs.

Goa's next match in the tournament will be against Haryana on Monday at Vizianagaram.
