Gandhinagar: “India is on the threshold of very big economic reforms, and my government is committed to continuing these reforms and ease the licensing and other procedures. The government is going to ensure that India becomes the world’s largest digitised economy, the outcome of our efforts are seen even in rural areas. India’s rank is now improving,” PM Narendra Modi said while launching the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit’ at Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

“Day by day, we are getting more and more integrated with the rest of the world. We will further simplify our processes to make India the easiest place to do business. We want to change the business environment from favouritism to a level playing field, and from interference to technology-based intervention. India is now the leading recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI). However, the story just does not end there. India is also on top of the countries that assure return on investment,” PM Modi said. “The potential for India is very high. We have to ensure that our policy and processes have to be balanced between urban and rural areas. We are committed to an India with better job opportunities, better growth, and better life,” the PM said. Heads of state or finance ministers from eight countries and nine Nobel Prize winners were present on the stage at the glittering convention hall at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, on Tuesday evening to attend the event. Just a day earlier, PM Modi launched India’s first International Exchange set up at Gujarat International Finance and Tech City near Gandhinagar. “India has its unique geographical location right in the middle of the western world and emerging Asian markets. This gives India an opportunity to become one of the biggest financial hubs to deliver global services to everybody from New York to Tokyo. Our newly set up International Exchange based in Gandhinagar will be operational for 22 hours every day,” Modi said amid thunderous applause. Speaking at the event, Reliance Group Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Tata Chief Ratan Tata and Adani Group CMD Gautam Adani praised the Gujarat government for its fast clearances for business and industry to set up new manufacturing plants. All the corporate leaders disclosed their plans for expansion and multi-billion dollar investments in Gujarat in the coming years. Big plans for developing three giant ports of Gujarat were announced at the function too. Heads of state from Kenya, Portugal and Rwanda signed important MoUs with the government of Gujarat on the occasion.
