Due to the postponement of the scheduled cricket tournament in Puducherry, the Goa senior cricket team will now travel to Delhi for the preseason. The matches will be played against some major Ranji teams from around the country's capital.
The cricketing schedule will be finalized in a day or two, but the team will leave for Delhi on Friday according to the Goa Cricket Association secretary Vipul Phadke.
Goa's potential senior cricket team was practising in Puducherry under coach K.K. Bhaskar, where the preseason was planned. However, due to the rains and the Covid-19 pandemic, the competition was delayed. Instead, the preseason will now be played in Delhi, Vipul said.
According to reports, the Delhi team is currently preparing for the upcoming season at home. Haryana is also practising in Delhi. With the Goa team now heading to the capital, the Delhi Cricket Association has decided to host the four teams there.
Goa's senior cricket team will play three major tournaments in the 2021-22 domestic season. Goa will play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 (Elite A Group) from November 4, Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI (Elite E Group) from December 8 and Ranji Trophy (Elite D Group) from January 13.
