PERNEM: Aakash Rajan Shetgaonkar won the first Pernem taluka level rapid blitz chess tournament organised by Pedne Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Dhargal panchayat hall.
Ayush Naik, Prithvij Gawde, Vaishnavi Parab and Vidhi Gawde won second, third, fourth and fifth prize respectively.
Prizes were distributed by GCA secretary Kishor Bandekar and PTCA president Vasant Naik.
Meanwhile, Prabhakar Shetye has been appointed as chess coach for Pernem taluka. This was informed by PTCA secretary Subhash Parsekar. He also informed that that initially coaching classes will be conducted at three different places in Pernem taluka twice a week and free of charge.
Vasant Naik thanked Goa Chess Association president Nilesh Cabral for alloting separate coach for Pernem taluka.
Coach Prabhakar assured to give more and more rated players from Pernem within a year. Vijay Parab conducted the programme. Arvind Mhamal successfully conducted the tournament as arbiter.
