GBA organises badminton coaches certification clinic

Panaji: Goa Badminton Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa organised a four-day `Coaches Certification Clinic' from February 27 to March 1 at Indoor stadium, Campal.

There were 21 participants who attended the Grade 1 course designed and conducted by former India international player Rutuparna Kulkarni and International certified fitness trainer Mohit Deshpande.

Panaji: Goa Badminton Association in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Goa organised a four-day `Coaches Certification Clinic' from February 27 to March 1 at Indoor stadium, Campal.

There were 21 participants who attended the Grade 1 course designed and conducted by former India international player Rutuparna Kulkarni and International certified fitness trainer Mohit Deshpande.

Participants who mainly comprised of badminton players, physical education teachers and B P Ed students were introduced to the various elements of badminton coaching and fitness training which included on court stroke training sessions besides Track and beach fitness demonstrations, gym demonstrations and sessions on Sports scientific foundations (strength and training).

Sports Secretary J Ashok Kumar (IAS), Executive Director (SAG) V M Prabhudesai , Project Officer (SAG) Monica Dourado and GBA president Narahar Thakur graced the closing function.

“The idea behind the clinic is to create good badminton coaches who can take up coaching camps at various locations across Goa wherever there are badminton facilities under guidance of the State Association. This will elevate badminton all across the State and benefit players from centres wherever coaching is presently lacking”, stated Prabhudesai in his closing speech.

Following participants attended and successfully completed the clinic: Akshay Raikar, Arjun Chauhan, Asif Khan, Avdhut Saptoji, Dhana Shirsat, Divyesh Shirsat, Fredrick Fernandes, Gosh Nadaf, Karan Randhawa, Mallikarjun Gali, Marina Albuquerque, Maxia Fernandes, Mayur Vengurlekar, Rajesh Kaladharan, Riddesh Madgaonkar, Sadiq Attar, Sanath Kamat, Sandeep Heble, Sharmad Mahajan, Shridhar Gosavi, Supriya Kuchelkar.
