After rain spoiled the fifth day of the first test between India and England, causing the match to end in a draw, the cricketing world awaits the second test.

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be chances of rain throughout the second test at Lord’s. The weather is likely to be bad on the second and fourth day of the match. In addition, there may be occasional rain on the first, third, and fifth days.

The match will be played at the Lord’s stadium in London. The Lord’s test is always a marquee fixture on the calendar because of the history tied with the ground. The last test India won at Lord’s was in 2014 and Virat Kohli wants to mend that record soon.

Major setbacks for both sides

In the build-up towards the second test, news broke about Indian pacer, Shardul Thakur being injured and missing the Lord’s fixture. Thakur has suffered a hamstring injury. On the other side, England’s premier fast bowler, Stuart Board, is also injured after a twisted ankle in training. Both teams will now have to make key changes to playing eleven for the Lord’s test.

Overate fines for England and India

The ICC has fined both teams for slow overate in the first test at Nottingham. There will be a reduction of two points from their total tally of points of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23.
