Indian Super League: FC Goa kicks off pre-season with their first practice

The training session also marked the beginning of Juan Ferrando’s second year as the coach of the team.

FC Goa starts off their preseason with the first training session on Monday. The team has started their camp early for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season at the Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Maidan. The training session also marked the beginning of Juan Ferrando’s second year as the coach of the team.

Under the Spaniard, FC Goa reached the semi-finals of the 2020-21 ISL. The team ended with a record of seven wins, 3 losses, and ten draws. It was a historic season for Goa as they made an incredible AFC debut.

For the 2021-22 season, FC Goa has resigned players like Edu Bedia, Evan Gonzalez, Alberto Nogera and Jorge Ortiz. The team will look for a replacement at the striker position with the departure of Igor Angulo and another player from an Asian country under tournament rules.

FC Goa also signed defenders Kunal Kundaikar, Sporting Clube de Goa, and Manushan Fernandes, Youth Club of Manora for the new season. As part of their preseason training, FC Goa will take part in the Durand Trophy next month before the start of the new ISL season. Like last year, the 2021-22 ISL season will be played in a bio-bubble constructed in Goa. But there has been no official update by the tournament up till now.
