Saras Powar and Rochelle Pereira win the Under-8 Goa State Chess Championship

Saras, Rudra, Rochelle and Dia are now eligible to represent Goa in the National Under-8 Chess Championship after securing the first two places in both groups.

 

In the online chess tournament organised by the Goa Chess Association, Saras Summer Powar has won the Under-8 State Chess Championship defeating Rudra Nagarsekar in the final.  Among the girls, Rochelle Pereira was the winner defeating the top seed Dia Saval. 

Saras, Rudra, Rochelle and Dia are now eligible to represent Goa in the National Under-8 Chess Championship after securing the first two places in both groups. The tournament will be played from September 10. 

27 players participated in the Under-8 State Chess Championship. The competition was inaugurated by the secretary of the association Sharendra Naik. Saras won all four games and topped the list. Rochelle also won all four games and in the third game, she also defeated Dia. 

Final Rankings: Open Group: Saras Powar, Rudra Nagarsekar, Arav Prabhugavkar, Aryan Naik, Prithvij Gawde, McCare Gomes. Girls: Rochelle Pereira, Dia Saul, Jensina Sequeira, Skyla Rodriguez, Rupika Raiker, Muriel Fernandes.
