Panaji: Tejan Fallary bagged a triple crown while Lydia Barreto won a double, in the Waman (Dada) Kelekar Memorial State Badminton Ranking Championship for Seniors (Men and Women), held at Ponda Sports Complex.
The Ranking championship organised by Ponda Shuttlers in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and SAG was the season ending tournament in Senior (Men & Women) category.
Tejan who had lost two previous finals this season to the same opponent reversed the results with an upset 17-21, 21-16, 21-16 win over top seed Aashrun Gautam to bring to an end his men's singles title drought this season.
Lydia Barreto likewise was in great nick in women's singles. She was cool, calm and collected while disposing off top seed Anjana Kumari with comfortable ease. She won 21-7, 22-20.
Later, Tejan and Lydia teamed up to record a facile 21-9, 21-16 win over Sunny Sawant and Yasmin Sayed to lift the Mixed Doubles title. In men's doubles, Tejan along with his partner Suraj Lama were all business as they smashed their way to a thumping 21-13 , 21-8 win over Sanath Kamat / Jatinder Singh.
Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, tournament promoter Shailesh Kelekar, National player Anura Prabhu Desai, GBA official Narahar Thakur (President), Ponda Shuttlers executive committee members Anil Painguinkar (President), Sandeep Khandeparkar (Secretary) and Sohan Kelekar (V. President) graced the prize distribution.
