Started in November 2024 in Campal, Panjim, the studio is led by Medha Agarwal, a ceramic artist and sculptor.
ARTISTIC JOURNEY
“I travelled across India to learn from different artists, and eventually chose Goa to start my studio. The slower pace and natural beauty here gave me the space to work more intuitively,” shares Medha.
Her journey with clay was born out of a fascination with the form and material, and it eventually evolved into a powerful medium for storytelling.
“I focus on hand-built pieces — some functional, many purely sculptural. My work is inspired by forests, succulents and animal forms, often abstract or anthropomorphic (figural), used to explore emotion and identity,” she adds.
At Claykind, it’s about creating slow, sculptural decor that adds softness and organic shapes to structured spaces. The name reflects both the gentle, ‘kind’ nature of clay and the unique stories and forms that come from working with it.
The studio in Panjim is a quiet one that is plant-filled and has an earthy vibe, where visitors feel relaxed and grounded. “Our studio is a welcoming space with no prior experience needed. The focus is on enjoying the material and the process, and not perfection,” says Medha.
The process uses a mix of hand-built techniques — pinching, coiling, slab work and sculpting. After the item is formed, each piece is dried slowly, bisque-fired, glazed and then fired again.
“The process is long, layered, and always a little unpredictable, which is something I’ve grown to love,” she explains.
The studio offers beginner-friendly workshops that include one-hour kids' sessions, weekend hand-building classes, and seasonal themed workshops with some sessions exploring sculptural techniques more deeply.

So far the artist has collaborated with fellow artists, including printmakers, illustrators and glass artists. "My work is driven by an interest in combining ceramics with materials like metal, and I look forward to explore more cross-disciplinary workshops in the future,” she says.
