BJP will win 27 seats in Goa polls: Ravi Naik

Former Goa Chief Minister and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, who switched over to BJP from Congress in December last year, has predicted his BJP will have 27 seats in next month's Goa assembly election.

"Under the leadership of Dr Pramod Sawant along with the blessings of Modiji, it looks like it is possible to get at least 27 seats in Goa, The ruling BJP will get the full majority, no matter what anyone says what, keep it in mind," Naik told reporters at his residence.

On being asked whether people in the mining belt will support the ruling party as mining workers have threatened to campaign against BJP, Naik expressed confidence that BJP will perform well in the mining belt. "There is only 10 per cent who are against BJP but I am sure they will also vote for BJP."

Naik resigned as MLA and quit Congress to join BJP ahead of the Goa polls.

The veteran politician has spent a little over two years as Goa chief minister across multiple terms whilst also having served as a member of parliament for a brief-term between 1998 and 1999 representing North Goa.
