66 passengers have tested positive for Covid-19 so far onboard the Mumbai-Goa Cordelia cruise ship.

The cruise ship, which had come from Mumbai and is docked at Mormugao cruise terminal, is carrying 2017 passengers with 1471 tourists and 596 staff.

The ship has been denied entry until the health authorities test all 2,000 passengers on board the cruise ship. More test results are awaited.

Earlier, health officials had informed that only one crew member had tested positive for Covid-19 while the ship was on its way to Goa. According to sources, the crew member was suffering from fever for two days.

The authorities have asked all the passengers to remain on the cruise ship will their test results are out. Operators of this cruise ship have been asked to conduct Covid-19 tests on all the passengers through the Vasco-based Salgaonkar Medical Research Centre (SMRC) Hospital.

"We have not allowed them to dock the ship. They have a tie-up with a private hospital for Covid testing and we have told them to test all the passengers for Covid-19 before they leave the ship," Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.

Rane said that every day every flight has covid cases and "we have to be strict to control spread"
