A few hours after a crew member tested positive for the Covid-19 on the Mumbai-Goa Cordelia cruise ship, ten passengers on Monday, January 3, have also been detected with Covid-19 with thousands on board.
The cruise ship, which had come from Mumbai and is docked at Mormugao cruise terminal, is carrying 2017 passengers with 1471 tourists and 596 staff.
The ship has been denied entry until the health authorities test all 2,000 passengers on board the cruise ship. More test results are awaited.
The crew member who was the first person to test positive has been kept in isolation. The person was found positive in a rapid antigen test. According to sources, the crew member was suffering from fever for two days.
The authorities have asked all the passengers to remain on the cruise ship will their test results are out. Operators of this cruise ship have been asked to conduct Covid-19 tests on all the passengers through the Vasco-based Salgaonkar Medical Research Centre (SMRC) Hospital.
