Folklore Dr Phaldesai gets best Konkani book award 2018

PANAJI: The Konkani book viz ‘Goemchea Lokvedachem Saundaryashastra’ authored by renowned folklore researcher Dr Pandurang Phaldesai has been awarded the ‘Dr T M A Pai Best Konkani Book Award - 2018’ by the Manipal based Dr T M A Pai Foundation. Dr Phaldesai has so far published 12 books on art and culture of Goa out of which one book is selected by the Goa University as text book whereas another book on ethno-musiccology has been enlisted as reference book. The book ‘Goemchea Lokvedachem Saundaryashastra’ has been published by Saasaai Prakashan under the publication grant of West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur in 2018. Dr Phaldesai retired as member secretary of Kala Academy after working there for 35 years. All time he is engaged in the field study and research work pertaining to the traditional art forms and culture of Goa. He is the recipient of Sahitya Puraskar and prestigious State Cultural Award of Government of Goa for his outstanding research in Goan folklore.
