PANAJI: Former Deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavlikar demanded that the Goa government should release a white paper on Mhadei river giving details of the steps taken by successive governments since 1970 to save the river.

He lamented that Goa MPs including Union Minister had proved to be useless in saving Mhadei river. He said that a delegation from Karnataka visits Delhi and the Centre issues notification notifying the Mhadei Tribunal's verdict. The notification will help Karnataka to start construction work and divert Mhadei river.

This shows that the Centre was not listening Goa and giving more importance to Karnataka. Dhavlikar charged that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had failed to lead all-party delegation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also appealed to the chief minister to release white paper on Mhadei river and not to make it a political issue.

Former Bicholim MLA Naresh Sawal said that if Mhadei water was diverted then most of the villagers in Bicholim taluka will dry up and there will be no water for cultivation.
