PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa on Wednesday dismissed the appeal filed by the special investigation team (SIT) Mines challenging the order of the Special Court, Margao, discharging Arjun Salgaocar and his brother Sameer in an alleged illegal mining case.
The SIT which is probing alleged mining scam had pleaded that Salgaocar brothers were involved in alleged mining scam in 2009, which was earlier rejected by the special court.
The Special Court, Margao had discharged Arjun Salgaocar and his brother Sameer in illegal mining cases at the time of framing of charge.
SIT (Mines) in the charge sheet filed in 2016 had contended that the accused were the directors of S Kantilal and Company Pvt Ltd from January 2009 to February 2010 and the company carried out mining activities at T C number 60/1952, situated at Asni Dongor in the villages of Kurdi and Kurpem of Sanguem taluka, without grant of lease from the Directorate of Mines and Geology.
