Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday laid the foundation stone for National Forensic Science University at Dharbandora.

Speaking at the event, Shah paid tribute to former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and recalled his contribution to the development of Goa and India.

"On Prime Minister's instructions, Parrikar started One Rank One Pension (OROP) initiative for Armed Forces Veterans. During Modi's tenure, Parrikar took many great decisions one of them was handling situations in Jammu and Kashmir and carried out a surgical strike in Pakistan," said Amit Shah.

He also said that the surgical strike carried out by India five years ago sent a strong message to the world that no one can interfere with its borders. He said under the BJP-led NDA rule, India gives a befitting reply to terrorist attacks which was not the case when the Congress-headed UPA was in power.

He further said that Government should encourage students in Goa to study forensic science.

“Goa is a small state but its contribution to the country is significant. Goa attracts tourists from all over the world, so we are committed to providing facilities. Modi government has taken several decisions and Pramod Sawant has made a full contribution to implementing these schemes. The people of Goa are also taking advantage of these schemes,” he added.

Shah also expressed confidence that BJP will win an absolute majority in the coming elections.
