BICHOLIM: Members of Bhandari community from Bicholim taluka have given four-day ultimatum to the central committee to re-elect the new committee of Bicholim taluka.

The members have threatened to form a new committee of Bicholim taluka if central committee does not respond to their request.

Addressing a press conference at Bicholim, one of the committee members, Sameer Vaigankar said that they are opposing the Bicholim taluka committee elected by the central committee with Anand Narvekar as its president as the same was elected by sidelining the active members of Bhandari community and without taking other members into confidence. “We therefore had submitted memorandum to the central committee president Ashok Naik urging him to liquidate the old committee and form a new one by taking into confidence other members also by including the active memebrs in the committee.

However, so far central committee has not shown any response and hence with this press conference we once again urge the central committee to respond Bicholim taluka committee memebrs within four days,” said Vaigankar. He added that members have decided to form a new committee if central committee does not respond to them within four days. He also said central committee members have also failed to undertake amendments in the bye laws, organise monthly meetings and in discussing other issues of development.

He also accused the central committee members of taking 14 months in forming Bicholim taluka committee.

He added that "despite of good construction of this hall, Ashok Naik with the help of Anand Naik is bent upon making baseless allegations about commitment of fraud while constructing this hall ."

Shashikant Ghadi accused Ashok Naik of adopting practice of dividing community members. The press conference was also attended by Rupesh Thanekar, Ashok Nagvekar, Shyam Harmalkar, Sushant Pednekar, Pramod Gaonkar, Rajendra Falkar, Vithoba Ghadi, Dasharath Naik, Damodar Pethkar, Sripad Kumbharjuvekar and others.
