MARGAO: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Margao has urged the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar to repair and hot-mix all roads of Comba, Margao before March 10.
Recently a delegation led by State executive member of BJP Sharmad Raiturkar along with others met the minister and submitted memorandum in this regard. Delegation have also requested the minister to personally monitor the said work on priority and see that all the roads which are dug for laying of the sewerage pipeline are repaired and hot mixed before March 10 ie before the commencing of the auspicious 'Zambaulim Shigmo' at Comba-Margao.
Sharmad said that ‘Zambaulim Shigmo’ is a special and the age-old festival celebrated by all the Madgaonkars irrespective of caste and religion. This year Zambaulim Shigmo will commence from Comba with the auspicious ‘Naaral Pujan’ on March 11. The same will be taken to Shree Damodar temple at Zambaulim by a procession accompanied by thousands of Madgaonkars through Margao city especially through the Comba area.
"Then chief minister late Manohar Parrikar had taken speedy action and initiated the laying of new HDP sewerage pipeline and repairing of manholes after making a personal visit to Comba area. He had made it a point to followup the processing of file even through his sickness and as a result of his efforts the work of laying the new pipeline had commenced just before monsoon in 2019. After Pauskar took the charge of the PWD ministry, the work gained momentum and the work of the first two phases has almost completed with little pending work of full grouting at a couple of places", said Sharmad.
He further said that the karyakartas of BJP Margao along with the residents of Comba are grateful to the PWD minister for accepting their request and directing the officials to complete the remaining repairing of the dug portion of the roads and immediately start the hot mixing of the roads in order to ensure that the festivities of Shigmo are not affected and also to give relief to the commuters.
"It is also to be noted that the roads of the Comba area were not hot mixed for the past 14 years due to the apathy of the local MLA", he alleged. Sharmad also said, "We also feel the necessity to warn the officials of the possibility of pressure techniques by the local MLA in order to delay the said works in order to bring a bad name to the government and the administration. It has been the past experience of such incidents wherein the local MLA had used his pressure techniques to stop or delay the developmental works to fulfill his vested interests, as a part of his vendetta or in order to suit his coconut breaking program without caring about the necessity of the local public or the hardships faced by them".
