MARGAO: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavde on Monday stated that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) issue will not at all have an impact on Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections. He also said that it was a shame that Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and other MLAs were seen seating with the public at a recently held anti-CAA public meeting at Margao. Speaking to reporters he said, "CAA issue won't affect BJP in forthcoming ZP elections in Goa. We have already cleared our stand with regard to CAA and we are firm on our stand. We have even shown our strength on the day of rally at Panaji," he added. He further said that "once the law is passed it is shame on the part of Leader of Opposition and other MLAs to take part and seat with the public at anti-CAA meeting." Reacting to the question raised by the reporter with regard to the ZP election he said that BJP will contest all the constituencies. The seat-sharing decision or adjustment if any will be taken on a later stage. All the decisions will be taken by the party high command. "There is no separate planning for Salcete taluka. Once any person joins the party he is equal to others," he stated. Meanwhile, on Monday South Goa District committee headed by Tulsidas Naik as the president was declared. A total of 46 committee members includes four vice-presidents, three general secretaries and five secretaries. The names of the committee members were declared by president Tulsidas Naik.
