PANAJI: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Panaji, is glad to inform the general public that their new building at Chorao Island to house “the Bhaktivedanta Academy for Culture and Education” will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Sunday, February 2 at 11 am in the presence of Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Mayem MLA and Goa State Horticulture Corporation chairman Pravin Zantye, Auduth Timblo, chairman, Fomento Group of Companies, Chodan-Madel sarpanch Shamba Kalangutkar and deputy sarpanch Kalpana Dhuri.

ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of Bhakti-yoga in which aspirant devotees (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing the Supreme Lord, Sri Krishna. ISKCON today is a worldwide confederation of more than 600 centers. ISKCON works to create and sustain favourable environment for advancing the goals of the Krishna Consciousness Movement by establishing and maintaining confidence and faith in the integrity of Movement’s members and its mission.

The purpose behind establishing this Academy is to have a place of worship, residence for the Brahmacharis, youth counseling and education centre, rural education help centre, promotion of organic farming and, last but not the least, model for water harvesting and renewable energy.
