PANAJI: The Congress Party has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has once again displayed the idea of the party to promote "Crony Capitalism" and ignore the hardships and concerns of the common man through the committee announced by him to revive the economy of Goa.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Amarnath Panjikar alleged that the names in the economic revival committee comprise of industrialists, entrepreneurs, businessmen and others, most of whom were interested parties, who will try to take maximum benefits from the revival package. Surprisingly, the committee had no representation for small businesses like gaddas, professions like yellow and black motorcycle pilots, rickshaws, poders and bakers, bar and taverns, labour unions, barbers and various others who make a living on day-to-day earning.

“The BJP government at the Centre and the State had always tried to push for their agenda of supporting crony capitalism. The Modi government has always shown interest in waving off huge loans of big industrialists but always ignored deserving farmers,” Panjikar said.

He further stated that the BJP government in Goa was also toeing the line of the Prime Minister. The people of Goa had not forgotten the partisan approach of the BJP during first week of lockdown when all its Ministers, MLAs and office-bearers were busy hoarding essential commodities depriving the needy like mothers of infants, senior citizens and elderly even milk and bread.
