BICHOLIM: The dairy farmers have expressed great displeasure over the rise in fodder cost for the cattle and have demanded with the Goa Dairy to increase rate of milk by Rs 4 per litre if the fodder cost is increased.

Addressing a press conference here in the city, the dairy farmers told that there has been sudden increase in the cost of fodder needed for cattle by Rs 4 and thus they feel that they will incure a loss if this fodder cost is continued. Therefore, they have demanded roll back in fodder cost.

"We demand that this increase in the cost of fodder should be rolled back or Goa Dairy should increase the rate of milk by another Rs 4," dairy farmer Pramod Siddhaye stated.

The dairy farmers said that because of several challenges dairy farming is becoming difficult and if there is rise in fodder cost due to which they will suffer. They added that government on one hand is making propoganda to undertake dairy farming, but in reality the picture is different.

They have demanded with the CM Pramod Sawant to look into the matter and roll back the increase. Dairy farmers including Mohan Ekawde, Arun Gawas, Nitin Prabhugaonkar, Vishwas Sukhtankar, Gajanan Palkar and Adhinath Parab were among others present on the occasion.
