PANAJI: The Crime branch police arrested dreaded criminal Mukesh alias Gholu alias Rakesh Sharma, 34, a native of Beharampur-Delhi, hiding at a guest house at Agarwada, Mandrem on Thursday. Acting upon specific and reliable information, Crime Branch team led by PI Chetan Patil and consisting of PSI Nitin Harlankar, constables Jayant Gad and Shivam Mishal, lady head constable Lakshita Gaonkar and lady constable Amina Gaude under the supervision of DySP (Crime Branch) Mahesh Gaonkar apprehended Mukesh in the guest house. During search of his bag, the police recovered four broken mangalsutra, three broken gold chains and one locket, all worth Rs 5 lakh. During interrogation the accused confessed to having committed series of robberies/chain snatchings and other property offences in Delhi. The said information was verified and he was found to be involved in 14 such cases of robbery and snatching. At present he has been booked for having stolen property in possession. Further investigation is being carried out to find out his involvement in cases reported in Goa, informed Crime branch.
