Goa Assembly on Friday was adjourned sine die after transacting business for five days even as Opposition members protested and disrupted proceedings for last two days over the arrest of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte.
PANAJI: Goa Assembly on Friday was adjourned sine die after transacting business for five days even as Opposition members protested and disrupted proceedings for last two days over the arrest of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte.
The brief five-day budget session started from February 3. During the session, the House thanked the Governor for his address to the Legislative Assembly on January 7.
On the last day on Friday, the House condoled the death of 20 eminent personalities namely former Lok sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee; former Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, Sultan Qaboos BinSaid Al Said; former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani; former Chief Election Commissioner T N Seshan; tiatrist Marcelino de Betim alias Marcelino Noronha; veteran journalist Nilkant Khadilkar; renowned litterateur and recipient of the prestigious Padmashri and Sahitya Academy awards Suresh Amonkar; veteran theatre artiste and film actor Dr Shriram Lagoo; noted cinematographer Suryakant Lawande and eminent educationist Fr Joachim D’Mello.
During the session, four government bills were passed while, one bill was referred to the Select Committee. Also seven calling attention notices were tabled and replied.
The House also passed The Goa Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill, 2020 even as the Opposition members boycotted the last two days's session.
