Goa CM launches e-challan system

PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant launched e-challan system at a function organised at the Goa Police headquarters, Panaji on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts put in by the police department for its initiative to start e-challan system and also praised Axis Bank by providing 400 e-machines which will be used to issue challans to the offenders of traffic rules. Speaking further the chief Minister said that mind set of politicians has to be like the Candolim sarpanch Blazio Fernandes, who is thinking positive and in the interest of State. He said people who are agitating in the State should also see that law and order is maintained. Those who are agitating in the state should not create any problem to the tourists and further warned that government will initiate stern action against those who indulge in disturbing peace. Minister for Ports, Michael Lobo lauded the efforts taken by Candolim village panchayat to hand over the Mahindra Scorpio jeep to the Calangute police station. He said many tourist are visiting Calangute and Candolim areas and proper infrastructure coupled with facilities are required to take prompt action against those indulge in anti-social activities. He said people should appreciate the good work of police. Minister thanked Dinesh Chhutani for donating Scorpio jeep to the Calangute police station through the Candolim village panchayat. On the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over the key of Scorpio jeep to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jaspal Singh. A cheque amounting to Rs 30 lakh issued by Axis Bank was also handed over by the Chief Minister to the police constable, who had become disabled due to road accident. Father of the police constable received the cheque. Earlier, Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh welcomed the guests. Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, IAS, sarpanchas of village panchyat Candolim and Calangute besides officers of Axis Bank were present. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Parmaditya proposed a vote of thanks.
