Governor urges civil servants to re-dedicate themselves for welfare of people

PANAJI: Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik called upon the civil servants to re-dedicate themselves for the welfare of the people and renew their commitment to public service. He urged them to develop positive outlook, strive towards perfection, perform their duties with neutrality and uphold the constitutional values at any cost.

Extending his greetings to Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and his entire team on occasion of Civil Services Day on Tuesday, the Governor  said that. "There could not have been a better occasion to congratulate him, his entire administrative machinery, team of doctors, paramedics and their support staff for containing COVID-19 in our State so effectively".

The civil servants are the people with great capabilities and potentials and therefore, they must contribute for the benefit of the nation, he added.

The Governor said that he was glad that civil services rose to the occasion in the hour of crisis and proved its mettle in handling the situation with great degree of professionalism, sensitivity and compassion. However, as a matter of abundant caution he advised the administration not to lower its guard even a bit against the unseen enemy. The battle is long drawn and far from over. Only relentless, concerted and coordinated efforts of the entire state administration could make us triumphant.

Rightly termed as 'Steel frame of India', the civil services has played a  key role in governance of our country, be it framing of public policy and public welfare programmes or its implementation or delivery of the services at grassroot level. The dedicated efforts of the civil servants have made our nation strong and has propelled it on the path of growth and development. The contribution of civil servants in nation building and in strengthening the democracy is unparallelled, the Governor said.
