Govt to extend full support to empower women: Vishwajit

VALPOI : Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that various schemes have been implemented by the State government through the department of women and child development to empower women.

He was speaking as chief guest at the International Women's Day function organized by the Phoenix Self help group at Valpoi. Eight women from different fields, Adv Kala Dalal, PSI Karisma Purulekar, dentist Dr. Rajashree Murthy, Rajshree Daboskar and Tereza Andrade were felicitated on the occasion.

Akhtar Shah congratulated organizers for organizing International Women's Day and said the Phoenix Self Help group is always providing platforms for women to showcase their talent.

Councilor Ramdas Shirodkar said that the work carried out by Phoenix is truly commendable and requested them to extend their work beyond the Sattari taluka. The first female musical band "Destiny" of Goa performed on the occasion. Apurva Prabhu of 108 Woman's Helpline briefed about facilities for women at the event.
