
Panaji: Goa State Wetland Authority (GSWA) will be celebrating World Wetlands Day with the theme `Wetlands and Biodiversity' at Dr S Z Qasim Auditorium of National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona-Paula on February 1 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Minister of Environment and Goa State Wetland Authority chairperson Nilesh Cabral will be the chief guest and Director of Environment and GSWA member secretary Johnson Bedy Fernandes and National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) director Dr Sunil Kumar Singh will be the guest of honour. Dr Pramod Salaskar, eminent Limnologist from Mumbai will present his case study on Powai Lake. Similarly various competitions like essay writing competition on theme Wetland and Biodiversity. Competition will be held in three age groups Group I- 10-15 years essay should not exceed 250 words, Group II- 16-24 years essay should not exceed 500 words, Group III- 25 years and above Essay should not exceed 1500 words. Interested can send their essay in English, Konkani, Marathi or Hindi should be submitted in PDF format on email id goawetland@gmail.com. Besides Poster making competition for differently abled: Theme Wetland and Biodiversity. Photography competition: Theme Wetland and Biodiversity should be clicked between January 1, 2019 and January 26, 2020 in the State of Goa only. All the entries should reach to GSWA office on or before January 27. Results will be announced on February 1 during World Wetlands Day celebration programme.
