PANAJI: The Congress party on Saturday demanded sacking of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho from the State cabinet following judgement of Goa bench of Bombay High Court asking navy to act against illegal buildings around the airport.

Addressing a press conference at the party office, here Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) media cell convenor Trajano D'Mello also demanded that Chicalim deputy sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, who is a a member of the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) be immediately removed from the MPDA.

Trajano alleged that the 'game plan' of the Panchayat Minister, with his accomplice, was to bring obstacle in the funnel zone of Dabolim international airport with an intention to close down the airport.

Trajano pointed out that on November 23, 2019, he had raised the issue of illegal or unauthorised construction within the funnel zone of airport and the navy authorities.

Trajano said he had also mentioned in a press conference that Kamla Prasad Yadav, a member of MPDA was allegedly involved in illegal construction within the funnel zone of airport.

He alleged that due to the interference of the Minister, the MPDA in its second meeting held on November 18, 2019, had adopted a resolution to reject the Colour Code Plan submitted by the Navy.

''We demand that Kamla Prasad Yadav, who is a deptuty sarpanch of Chicalim village panchayat and who is a member of MPDA be immediately removed from the MPDA as the conflict of the interest with duty is a serious offence and since Kamala Prasad Yadav being a member of the village panchayat has knowledge of this law and still violets the law with criminal intention and therefore be removed with immediate effect from MPDA,'' Trajano said.

''Sacking of Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho is necessary by the Chief Minister failing which I would caution the Chief Minister that this Minister has succeeded in using his position under more experienced Chief Minster and managed to hoodwink them,'' he said.
