PANAJI: MPLAD funds are for the welfare of the people, therefore, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik, emphasized the need to bring maximum public works through the MPLAD funds.
Naik inaugurated crematorium in Bastoda, Mapusa on Sunday. Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo, Bastora sarpanch Savio Martins, councillor of Mapusa muncipal council Franky Carvalo, BJP mandal president Vinay Chopdekar and others were present on the occasion.
An amount of Rs 42 lakh has been provided for the development of the cemetery from the MPLAD fund. The gram panchayat should submit a proposal as soon as possible to complete the work of the second phase of the cemetery development, said Shripad Naik.
Naik said that the work of 70 crematoriums and 86 community halls in North Goa constituency has been completed through MPLAD fund. Some projects are underway, if all these works are completed within the next five to six months, then the number of developmental projects in MPLAD careergoes beyond one thousand, ”said Shripad Naik.
