VASCO: Niz Goenkar Revolutionary Front (NGRF ) has demanded appointment of a judge/presiding officer in the Goa State Police Complaints Authority (GSPCA ). NGRF general secretary Prashant Vasta speaking to media persons on Thursday said that they had also written letter to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant regarding the issue. "Not much people are aware of this department and there needs to be more awareness of this department to ensure people realise that they have grievances regarding the functioning of the police department . It has been more than a year that the post of the judge/presiding officer is vacant in the GSPCA. As a result there is a backlog of complaints against the police. There is no check against illegalities committed by the police officials in the absence of a judge," said Vasta.

"Incidents of misuse of power and authorities are taking place on a daily basis without any check. In view of the above we have requested Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to appoint a judge/presiding officer in the GSPCA at the earliest," added Vasta.
