MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant alleged that there are attempts being made by some people to divide the Goans in the name of religion and hence people must remain alert. He also challenged the people opposing the CAA to debate on the issue with him.  Speaking on the sideline of 'Goa Saras' he also lambasted the people and especially people coming from outside Goa State and agitating on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He further assured that no Goan will be affected due to the CAA.  "There some people who are misguiding the Goans on the issue of CAA. And hence, people of Goa must remain alert. They are trying to divide the Goan in the name of religion," he added.

The CM further said that he is ready to debate on the issue of CAA, but no one has the capacity to accept the challenge. "The Goans must also remember that there are Christians who are facing injustice in Pakistan. There are also cases that Christian people are being sold in other countries. CAA will give those Christian people a chance to take citizenship of India," said CM.  He further warned that the government will not tolerate those who are trying to misguide the Goans on the CAA issue.
