BICHOLIM: A unanimous resolution to conduct inquiry of migrants living in Piligao village was passed during gram sabha of Piligao panchayat held on Sunday at the panchayat premises. The gram sabha of Piligao panchayat was held on Sunday under the presidentship of sarpanch Pradeep Naik. Deputy sarpanch Urmila Parab Gaonkar, panchayat members Lalana Gimonkar and Sandeep Salelkar were present. Suraj Amonkar was the observer for gram sabha. When gram sabha began, the locals demanded that thorough inquiry of migrants living in the village be conducted as per the resolution taken in earlier gram sabha. In reply, sarpanch Pradeep Naik told that there are about 225 migrants living in village, whose names are not registered in panchayat. He further said that panchayat will conduct inquiry of all the migrants with regards to their registration and other issues. Discussion was also focussed on other development issues.

Sal villagers condemn Meghashyam Raut's act

The villagers from Sal, Bicholim while expressing support to Bicholim former MLA Naresh Sawal have condemned the act by local Meghshyam Raut saying that it was indecent. Addressing a press conference at Sal village by Sal villagers that included Mukund Raut, Suresh Raut and others said that they are fully supporting Naresh Sawal over this issue. The villagers also stated that Meghshyam Raut by committing this type of act has defamed the name of Sal village. It may be recalled that Meghshyam Raut, who happens to be Bicholim block Congress committee president along with the others on Friday had agitated near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue at Bicholim against Bicholim former MLA Naresh Sawal regarding a letter submitted by Sawal to the PWD office, Bicholim stating that the said statue is obstructing traffic and can be the cause of major accidents and water shortage in Bicholim. The press conference was also attended by Aapali Parab, Nandish Salgaonkar, Sangam Raut, Sagun Raut, Soma Raut, Sakharam Raut, Devu Parab, Vaman Parab, Tukaram Parab, Vishal Parab and others.
