PANAJI: The Goa police department has issued a show cause notice to PSI Sunil Gudlar asking him why he should be not be dismissed from service following enquiry report against him in the alleged police-drug dealer nexus reported nearly 10 years ago.

PSI Gudlar was placed under suspension for his alleged involvement in the politician-police-drug mafia nexus in 2011. Gudlar was allegedly caught on camera hobnobbing with alleged Israeli drug dealer David Driham alias Dudu's sister Ayala Driham and girlfriend Zarina Mazhrunova.

He was later arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI), who chargesheeted him before the NDPS Court, Mapusa. In 2014, the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Vigilance department registered a case against PSI Gudlar under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from September 30, 2009 to December 30, 2010.After seven years, the government withdrew PSI Gudlar's suspension and reinstated him in the Goa police service.He is now temporarily attached to the Special Branch, Panaji.

The memorandum issued by the Director General of Police (DIG) Rajesh Kumar stated that, "On a careful consideration of the enquiry report, the undersigned does not agree with the findings of the enquiry officer in view of the reasons indicated in the disagreement note. The undersigned therefore, propose to impose the said PSI Sunil Y Gudlar of GRP `B' Coy, Altinho, Panaji and temporary attached to SB, Panaji, the penalty of dismissal from service".

PSI Gudlar has been given 15 days to submit his written representation/ reply to the said penalty proposed, from the date of receipt of the memorandum by him. PSI Gudlar is also allowed to appear before the DIG Rajesh Kumar immediately after submitting his written reply and say anything in his defence with documentary evidence, if any.
