MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Wednesday demanded disciplinary action against the managing director of the Goa State Co-Operative Bank Limited for misuse of powers. He also urged Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude to pay attention to the issue and take action against the illegalities.
He further alleged that since the year 2010 onwards each of the managing directors of the said bank is involved in illegalities/scams and due to failure on the part of the government to take action they are encouraged for the same. "Hence I am compelled to come out highlighting the illegalities relating to the affairs of the bank that come to my knowledge so that Cooperation Minister as well as Chief Minister take note of the same and take timely action to save co-operative movement of the State," he further added.
Reginaldo said that the present managing director of the said bank has been occupying the bank-owned guest house situated at Panaji since April 2018 and therefore as per the rule he is not entitled to get house rent allowance. "But his salary details clearly show that he has been paid monthly house rent allowance since April 2018 onwards. As per the information, the said managing director has also been provided with a vehicle by the bank for office purpose and therefore he is not eligible for traveling and conveyance allowance," he claimed.
According to him, there is suspicion on the authenticity of all the answers pertaining to the affairs of the Goa State Co-operative Bank given for the Assembly questions and more particularly about the recovery of house rent allowance in the matter. "CM should take disciplinary action against him for misusing the powers as the same amounts to fraud," he demanded.
