PANAJI: The Calangute police on Saturday arrested 22-year-old woman Minamu Hafusa from Uganda in connection with the alleged murder of Zeferino Barreto at Baga, Calangute on Thursday night. Barreto (45), a resident of Aldona was found murdered at Baga, Calangute. Acting on the clues received from the CCTV footage and vital information provided by the locals besides the owners of a guest house helped the police to arrest the accused. Police stated that the woman after committing the alleged murder with a stone fled from the spot. However, the CCTV footage shed light on the offence committed by the accused. Sources revealed that her friends from African countries advised her to leave the State immediately. The woman then ran to her guest house and left the premises at midnight. Then called her landlady in the morning and told her that she would return by 9 am. The landlady immediately informed the police, who laid a trap and arrested when she had returned to her room. The Calangute police have registered a case against the accused under Section 302 of IPC. The Uganda national will be produced before the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Mapusa for police custody on Sunday.
