Carnival celebrations began on a high note in Porvorim setting off a kaleidoscope of colours. Carnival is not just a celebration but a melting pot of culture and tradition. This festival is a riot of colour, music, dance and revelry, which makes it one of the most popular festivals in India.

After Porvorim, other cities in Goa are set for the carousing to begin. The streets are decorated with Carnival masks and buntings, there's pulsating music, giddy laughter and some infectious energy of revelers. But amidst all this fun and glee, one has to be mindful of one’s own safety and well-being. Let’s therefore delve into some of the most important points to keep in mind at the Carnival.

1. HAVE FUN BUT STAY GROUNDED

The music and floats can be electrifying and overwhelming, but watch out and maintain your personal space. Avoid carrying valuables at the parade, keep your belongings safe.

2. ARRANGEMENT FOR SPECIALLY ABLED PERSONS

The department has made special provisions for a wheelchair accessible pandal for persons with disabilities and the elderly to view the Carnival parade without any hurdle.

3. IF UNWELL CALL / INFORM THE AUTHORITIES

While having fun and clicking selfies and photos, if you notice anyone experiencing discomfort, inform the police officials, authorities or call the ambulance.

4. KEEP THE CITY CLEAN

We all want to have fun, make memories, but at the same time, carry your own water bottles and snacks from home. Do not litter the place with empty plastic bottles and packets of chips.

5. RESPECT THE FLOATS AND TRADITIONAL ACTIVITIES

It’s time to fully immerse yourself into the festivities but it’s also important to respect the floats, people dancing and entertaining the crowds. Avoid catcalling or throwing water at fellow revelers.

6. CELEBRATE RESPONSIBLY AND KEEP THE VIBE POSITIVE

Avoid consuming alcohol as it would lead to unwanted situations and kill the happy vibes for other revelers at the Carnival parade.

Obeying rules and being mindful and following simple precautions can ensure that you have a fun and safe Carnival experience.
