A LOT IN A NAME

Originally named Chandivade after the abundant Macaranga Peltata (Chandivado) trees, the village later became known as Brahmakarmali, a name derived from Carambolim.

According to folklore, when the idol became too heavy to carry, the weary devotees rested on a hillock. Here, one of them dreamt of Brahmadev, who instructed them to worship him at that very spot.
