‘Susegad’ Goa calls the name of actor Vardhaan Puri
Goa’s undeniable and distinct charm has snared many a famous personality over the years. It’s not unusual for many Bollywood celebrities to own a second home here, a haven from the chaos of their daily routine.
Of these, actresses Kalki Koechlin and Sameera Reddy are two examples among many others. Another actor is about to join the crop, and he’s related to a famous old-time villain who once sent shivers down the spines of moviegoers with his intense acting.
In an exclusive and candid chat with Vardhaan Puri, the grandson of the famous movie actor Amrish Puri, at International Film Festival of Goa (IFFI), he talks about how Goa transforms him and that he is currently on a lookout for a holiday home in the State.
“Every time I come to Goa, it’s like a transformation. There is so much to do, and whenever I come, it’s usually to let go and unwind. As an actor, there are times when you need to introspect – you want to know who you really are, what your purpose in life is – this is when I come to Goa. Goa is second home to me,” shared Vardhaan as he was spotted with Shekhar Kapur’s daughter, Kaveri Kapur.
BEST WATER SPORTS IN INDIA
Vardhaan loves visiting Goa’s beaches, taking a dip in the sea and exploring water sports. It’s a time to destress and rejuvenate for him.
“I have had the best water sports experience here in Goa. I love going to the beach, and it makes me very happy and calm. The water here is so relaxing too. It is such a change from what Mumbai is – where everyone is busy in the bhagam bhag (hustle and bustle). People here have time and patience to talk to one another. This quality is what I appreciate the most in Goans,” points out Vardhaan.
A HOLIDAY HOME IN GOA
The hospitality of Goans is what attracts most of Goa’s tourists. Vardhaan, who also has a holiday home in Mumbai, is on the search for a home within the State to call his own.
“We have a place on the outskirts of Mumbai, but we are always coming here to Goa to explore and relax. So, we are looking for homes here in Goa. Our family is coaxing us to buy a home here, and hopefully in the next six months we will have a villa here,” he reveals.
He doesn’t plan to settle here in Goa though, but intends to shuffle from Goa to Mumbai often.
“Mumbai is my janmabhoomi (birthplace) and karmabhoomi (workplace), and Goa is my holiday-bhoomi, my relax-bhoomi,” says the actor who played the role of Romesh in the film Bloody Ishq.
PROUD OF MY GRANDFATHER
Vardhaan Puri is finally to be seen on screen working with filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Shekhar Kapur will be shooting a medical drama Next to God 37 years after he worked with Vardhaan's grandfather Amrish Puri in Mr India.
“I’m very proud of what my grandfather did in the film industry, and I'm here to give my best in the film industry. I feel life is so much more than just the films you sign or the work you do,” says Vardhaan who is working on many upcoming films.
