Bigfoot Art Gallery, Loutolim, has organised a photo exhibit, titled ‘Open Air Worship’ which will be on view till May 13, 2023. The exhibition, which is a collection of 59 photographs, opened on May 3, 2023 at the hands of Rev Fr Savio Rodrigues, sj.
The collection was inspired by the crosses that dot Goa’s highways, roads and small streets.
“This is probably the only state that has these along the way. We have them built to honour various events that are a part of the lives of the builders, themselves. Very often, it is in memory of the death, by accident, of a family member and so on. But, these crosses are a witness to the ‘faith’ of the locals. On the feast of the ‘Holy Cross’, I wanted to honour that emotion,” explained founder of Big Foot, Loutolim, Maendra Alvares.
The exhibit is the result of many days of travelling along the roads and streets in the state. The photographs have been assembled upon the beads of the Catholic rosary and extend in the 59 beads of prayer used by Catholics.
