If you are a fan of web series, you may have recently seen Abhinav Sharma as Krish Katyal in Mismatched or Raghav in Campus Diaries. A trained actor, who developed a liking for the craft at an early age, he has been a part of the industry for a couple of years now and has acted in a few series. He was in Goa and spoke to Gomantak Times about his connection with Goa, work life, recent web shows and more.

Q

What brings you to Goa, and how long are you here for?

A

My friends from school are getting married, so they’re having a bachelor party here. It’s nice catching up with old friends from school since we’re all busy with our lives most of the time. So this is like a big reunion for us.

Q

How do you usually spend your time here?

A

I spend most of my time hanging out with friends, eating some good food and enjoying the weather when it’s kind to us. It’s always a lovely vibe here. Also, the people are welcoming and warm, which always so nice.

Q

What are your fondest memories of Goa?

A

Spending some time on the beach with my friends and going out for meals at restaurants in Assagao. There are lovely bars in and around Siolim and Morjim, too, which we enjoy. I’m yet to explore South Goa properly, so hopefully, that will happen the next time I’m here.

Q

What has your experience been working on Mismatched? What is the most memorable experience you have had on set?

A

It’s been wonderful, and there are so many nice moments that it’s tricky to choose. But, I feel something that was always special was when we’d all get together for our meals. That was a fun catch-up session.

Q

What's the project closest to your heart yet, and why?

A

I feel they all give you an opportunity to grow as an artist, so I’m grateful for all of them. Every role gives you something and makes you realise something, as long as your approach is honest.

Q

What are you working on next?

A

I have a super-interesting, entertaining project lined up. But I have to keep it under wraps for now. I'm excited to reveal it soon.

Q

With the increasing popularity of OTT, do you think actors are slowly gravitating towards OTT as a viable option and not seeking credibility in the form of feature films in Bollywood?

A

I don’t think the OTT space is a substitute for film. All platforms have their own magic and aura, and OTT has its own convenience and charm, but the “content is king” policy is relevant to all spaces. So I feel I want to explore both equally and keep getting better at my craft.

Q

As an actor who's been a part of the OTT boom that has taken place, what are your thoughts on the content streaming on various OTT platforms as compared to television?

A

As in most cases, more demand means more supply and content at times will suffer. But I feel there’s so much promise in what we’re doing and where we’re headed.

Q

With social media being such an integral part of our lives, how do you manage your presence online? Do you frequently interact with viewers/followers?

A

I go with my gut and post what I feel comes naturally to me. I’m careful with my screen time though. I always try and engage with anyone who sends in a message or mention. It’s why we do what we do.
