What would you get if you cross Pentatronix-style a capella with Indian pop? We're guessing that the result would come close to the catchy pop beats of Jigyasa, a Goa-based band of six, which has been getting noticed for all the right reasons on Star Pravah’s, 'Mi Honar Superstar Aavaj Konacha, Maharashtra cha’.

Star Pravah’s new singing reality show recently featured the band Jigyasa from Goa. During their very first performance, the band got a standing ovation from the judges, and an entry into the next round of auditions of the show.

The performance of these six youngsters, from Goa, left the audience wanting more such music that would enthrall the audience.

Among the six artistes, four of them (Sanil Sunil Parsekar, Dattraj Deepak Chari, Yeshwant Pandhari Naik, Dattaraj Nandanath Kolwlkar) are students of the Goa College of Music, Altinho, Panjim, Goa. And, Varad Radhakrishna Bhat is a second year student of Dnyanprassarak Mandal's College (DMC), Assagao, Goa.

The band includes beat boxer, Akash Shridhar Gaonkar from Dhargal- Pernem, who is a graduate in Commerce and has been mesmerizing the audience with his well-synchronized beats and transition.

When you first hear them perform, you are sure to look out for the musical instruments that are creating the beats, but you will be surprised to see none, except for his beat boxing skills, which are clearly amazing!

Speaking to GT, singer, Dattaraj Chari says, "'Jigyasaa' means 'curiosity'. We became friends through the Goa College of Music, and we would often do impromptu jamming sessions. And, slowly we developed our own style. Each member is skilled in his own way.”

“We want to create music for the people, and let people know us for our music. We want to create an era of Jigyasaa music, he added.

Participating in the reality show wasn’t part of the plan. Chari says, “We came across an advertisement and the six of us got together and submitted our work. Organisers of the show liked our work, and we were selected for the auditions, and yes, now we have made it to the next round in Mumbai.”

The band is into creating, composition and recreating songs.

Catch the band perform on the next episode of the show.
