What can you do if you’re in Goa this week? You can choose to enjoy one or all of these – a musical, a mando competition and a Japanese fabric art workshop.
JOSEPHITE EVENT
St Joseph High School, Karai, Shiroda, is hosting a Josephite event celebrating Joseph, the Carpenter, on Dec 9, 2023.
This event is a collaborative effort by St Joseph High School, its ex-students, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and promises a wonderful display of creativity, skill and innovation. It has been done under the guidance of Dr Fr Leslie Bosco Rego, and revolves around St Joseph the Carpenter, his role as the earthly father of Jesus Christ, and his inspiring life.
The programme will include music, dance, a rotating stage and culinary delights. French actress, Marianne Borgo will be the guest of honour, while musician Elvis Mascarenhas will be the anchor for the evening.
Fr Rego directed the Konkani short film, Carlo Acutis, and is associated with several film honours including the Dadasaheb Phalke award as well as the Global Taj International Film Festival (GTIFF) at Agra.

THE ART OF SHIBORI
Discover the traditional Japanese art of Shibori on Dec 10, 2023 in Miramar.
Meraki Experiences presents a workshop on the ancient art of Japanese tie-dye, guided by the resource person, Gayatri Talvadekar.
Participants will get a chance to delve into the Nui and Arashi Shibori techniques, and craft a unique stole through resist dyeing, embracing the rich traditions of Japan.

ALL GOA STATE LEVEL MANDO FESTIVAL
Here’s an opportunity to check out some of the finest traditional Goan mando performances at a mando competition.
The Goa Cultural and Social Centre presents the 56th All Goa State Level Mando Festival on Dec 12 & 13 at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panjim, featuring beautiful performances by children, teenagers and adults.
The event is being held in collaboration with the State Department of Art & Culture, Fundação Oriente India and Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera.
